The Servant's Prayer

Jesus keep me near the cross; there a precious fountain,
Free to all, a healing stream, flows from Calvary's mountain.

In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever,
Till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river.

Our Father and our God, we come just to say thank you, for you've been so good to us. You have been better to us than we've been to ourselves, for the things that you've told us to do we've left undone, and the things you've told us not to do we find ourselves doin'. But you're so good and so kind you spoke to our golden moments and told 'em to roll on a little while longer.

Near the cross, a trembling soul, love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star sheds it's beam around me.

In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever,
Till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river.

We just wanna say thank you now. Thank you for being our Father and letting us be your children. We thank you for looking beyond our faults and you saw all our needs. We thank you for the sunshine and we thank you for the rain. We thank you for our friends and we thank you for our enemies. We thank you for our incoming and our outgoing. Father we thank you for our down-sitting and our up-rising. We realize that we have to have a little rain in our lives to appreciate the sunshine. We thank you for our enemies' cause our enemies keeps us on our knees. Sometimes early in the morning, sometimes at noonday, and then sometimes late in the midnight hour we have to get outta our beds and get on our knees and say thank you. All day long you have been by our side, up and down the dangerous streets, around the dangerous curves and across the dangerous intersections we have made our way to this appointed place. We just wanna say thank you now.

Near the cross! O Lamb of God, bring it's scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day with its shadow o're me.

In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever,
Till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river.

Now Father, when we've gone the last mile of our way, when it's your time to call and ours to answer, give us a home in your kingdom where we can praise you forever more. This is your servant's prayer, along with the forgiving of our sins. Amen.

Near the cross I'll watch and wait, hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand just beyond the river.

In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever,
Till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river.
