Spring Flea Market. United Methodist Women will hold their Spring Flea Market on Saturday, April 19 from 8:am – 12noon. It is open to the community. Table rentals are $15.00. Call the church office for a reservation. Lunch will be available.

Dinner and Silent Auction on November 17th

The UMW will sponsor a Dinner and Silent Auction on Saturday, November 17th beginning at 6:30 PM. This is a ticketed event. Turkey Dinner cost is $12.00. You are welcome to come at 7:30 PM if you wish to just participate in the auction alone. All proceeds will benefit our local Missions Program. Some include CAP, YWCA of Odenton, Odenton Fire Company, MD Bible Society, and the Odenton Health Center.

Please consider donating an auction item for the event. Give some thought to what you may have in the attic or basement that would be suitable as a gift item. Do you have a talent or service to offer? Are you skilled in knitting or carpentry or computers? Could you offer your help shoveling snow, babysitting, leaf raking, baking cookies, delivering groceries? Could you provide a gift certificate from your favorite restaurant or store? Other suggested donation categories are: handcrafted wood items, children’s toys, seasonal decorations, crafts, sporting goods, limited edition prints, framed paintings, glassware,
tools, antiques, new CD or video, exercise equipment, furniture, new book autographed, working musical instrument, sports tickets, car wash certificate, movie passes, vacation package.

Please include your name, phone, item donated and approximate cost. We will include your name as a donor in the auction booklet. Bring items to parsonage or church office by November 3rd. But please tell us now what you will provide so we can type a preliminary list.

Dinner tickets are $12 each and will be available Sunday, October 13th. See Bev, Kay or Donna. Call the church office for information.

Upcoming Meeting

The United Methodist Women will meet on Thursday, September 20th at 7:00 pm. Dessert will be at 7:00 pm with the meeting beginning at 7:30 pm. Rev. Humbert will educate us on "symbols" in the church. Every woman in the church is invited.

UMW Trip to New Windsor

On Friday, August 10, we will travel to the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor, Maryland to work in the International SERRV gift shop, pricing and packaging department. We will carpool from the church at 8:00 a.m. and return before 5:00 p.m. Please contact Kay Bush or Beverly Humbert for additional information.

UMW Field Trip to the National Cathedral

The UMW is planning a field trip to the National Cathedral on June 16th. We will leave the church at 10:15 a.m. sharp, have lunch (TBD) and begin the tour at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $5.00 for the tour plus lunch. See Beverly Humbert or Kay Bush for reservations.

Update:

On June 16th, the UMW had a Field Trip to the National Cathedral. We left the church around 10:00 a.m. sharp, had a great lunch at the Cafe Deluxe on Wisconsin Avenue and began the tour at 1 p.m. The weather was nice and the tour was nicer.

United Methodist Women Meeting March 15th

On Thursday, March 15th the UMW will host members of the Annapolis District Missions Team. They will speak regarding distribution of UMW missions money. Desserts at 7:00 p.m.,
meeting at 7:30 p.m.

United Methodist Women Spring Retreat

The UMW will be holding their Spring retreat on Friday and March 23rd and Saturday, March 24th at the Marriott Courtyard in Ft. Meade. Rev. Linda will lead the study entitled "The Puzzle of Life; Making the Pieces Fit." The cost will be $75 each for 2 to a room; $120 for a single; and $60 each for 3 to a room. Included in this cost will be a buffet breakfast, lunch and snacks. Check-in after 3 p.m. Dinner on own at the Courtyard Cafe. The first session will start at 7 p.m. on Friday in Rev. Linda’s suite. The last session ends at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Everyone will be provided a goody bag for Savage Mill. Please make reservations with payment to Beverly Humbert, Kay Bush, or Jeanne Gourley. The deadline is Sunday, March 11, 2007.

United Methodist Women – Potluck Dinner and Guest Speaker

Thursday, February 15th, 6:30 PM – please join us for a potluck dinner followed by our guest speaker, Jim Gourley. Former Executive Director of Anne Arundel County Habitat for Humanity, Jim has recently returned from many months of work in India. Come hear how he helped build over 100 homes there, working along side of President and Mrs. Carter. It should be a wonderful, informative evening. Sign-up in the Narthex to let us know if you plan on attending and if you need a babysitter.

This group is open to any women who wish to join. You do not have to be a member of the United Methodist Church. Our purpose is to know God through prayer, study and service; to support one another in fellowship; and to reach out in missions. We meet the third Thursday of each month (unless otherwise advertised) at 6:30 PM in the Church fellowship hall for a potluck dinner, followed by a program and meeting at 7:30 PM. If you cannot come out for dinner, feel free to come for the program and meeting only. A warm welcome is extended to every woman of the Church.
