About the Wired Word

Each ready-to-use weekly installment includes everything you need to spark discussion and to relate the messages contained in Scripture passages to current headlines . . .

  • In the News discusses a current event to be analyzed in a biblical context each week.
  • The Big Questions provide a framework for the discussion. Use them as is, or revise to include your own commentary and perspectives.
  • Confronting the News with Scripture provides the substance of the lesson along with suggestions on how group members can apply Scripture passages covered that week to their daily lives.
  • Discussion Questions help you encourage additional in-depth exploration of the topic at hand.
  • Closing Prayer provides a meaningful conclusion to the week’s discussion.

Use of the Online Bible Study

  1. A schedule will be posted soon so you know when to expect new lessons.
  2. Read through the material including any linked pages.
  3. Interactive part - If you click on the article title or on the comments link at the bottom of each article, you will be able to read through any comments that your bible study classmates have made.  You can comment on the article, you can comment on a comment, and you can comment on a comment on a comment (up to 5 deep).  Don’t feel like you have to say something profound.  Have you SEEN some of the comment threads on the internet?  Feel free to give simple “great comment”, “totally agree”, or similar comments as well.  We all need affirmation once in a while.
  4. Icons - You’ll notice colored, patterned icons to the right of the comments.  These are randomly generated for each user and should help you visually correlate comments from the same person.
  5. Security - these comments are not visible unless you are logged into the Nichols-Bethel site and will eventually be deleted.
  6. Problems? Email admin@nicholsbethel.org
