Christian Pre-School
Nichols-Bethel Christian Pre-School Learning Center is sponsored by the church. Programs for 3 year olds (Tuesdays & Thursdays) and 4 year olds (Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays) are taught by Joy Richardson and Diana Grant.
Beginning in Fall 2008, our programs adjust to a five day four year old program from 9:15am to 11:45am; a three day four year old program (M, W, F) from 12:30pm to 3:00pm; and a three year old program (T, Th) from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.
For twenty-six years, Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Pre-School has provided a nurturing, educational environment for three- and four-year old children. Our aim is to provide a pre-school curriculum, in a Christian atmosphere, consistent with the traditional values of the United Methodist Church. We strive to meet the individual needs of your child, recognizing him/her as a special person with varying needs and abilities. We are interested in helping your child develop a good self-image. We will encourage him/her to use good manners, to share, and to be kind to each other.
The Pre-School curriculum includes activities intended to stimulate your child’s emotional, social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth. Specific areas will include science, art, music, finger plays, games, stories, Bible Stories, flannelboard stories, number activities, snack time, outdoor activities, cooking, field trips (4’s) , dramatic play, and opportunities to meet community helpers and resource people (3’s & 4’s). Basic concepts (color, size, shape, etc.), skills and processes (organizing, developing eye-hand coordination, matching, etc.) are part of our program. We will work on letter and number recognition in groups and individually, including recognizing and writing his/her own name (4s).
An integral part of the curriculum will focus on Christian education. This will be on a pre-school level, consistent with the United Methodist teaching materials. Each day the children will participate in a brief worship service in the Sanctuary (4’s) or the Choir Room (3’s).
